Dear Lexden Publishing,
I should like
to comment on your wonderful 'ask the author' service.
I have found finding suitable assignments for my new
Electrical Installation students quite daunting this
year. Also, having no experience of teaching level
2 and not having access to any example portfolios,
I was delighted with this service.
I would not be working at the high standard required
without assistance to produce assignments which are
not only interesting but appropriate for the trade
and meet all the standards and criteria.
I am sure that there are many colleagues in similar
situations who would benefit from this expert advice.

Key Skills Books and Resources
Students' Textbooks
These new textbooks are written to the latest Key Skill Standards
and cover the three core Key Skills: Communication; Application
of Number; Information and Communication Technology for
Levels 1 and 2.
Each book has an introductory section that clearly explains
what is required to gain the Key Skills qualification. They
are then divided into three chapters covering the three Key
Skills and each chapter is further divided into three distinct
parts:
- Reference Sheets – providing
background information for each Key Skill, useful exercises
that will aid learning and prepare students for Part A Tasks
and End Assessment questions.
- Practise Part A Tasks – carefully
designed tasks, written for realistic situations, that will
help students produce work at the right level and prepare
them for the End Assessment and put together a Portfolio
of Evidence.
- End Assessment questions –
sample questions similar to those that appear on End Assessment
papers.
Tutors' Resources
The Tutors' Resources are provided in electronic format*
to accompany the Students' textbooks. They provide guidance

and Assessment sheets, as well as pre-filled documents to
save time and to aid lesson planning. There are model answers
and guidance to the questions contained in the Students' textbooks
and 100-120 End Assessment questions for each Key Skill (300-360
questions in all).
They provide Part B Assignments that are linked to vocational
contexts and include assignments that cover the Wider Key
Skills: Problem Solving; Improving Own Learning and Performance;
and Working With Others.
